Run With the Law!
And help our Local
Special Olympics raise money!!
Athletes….now you can take part in Run With the
Law and help our local Special Olympics program at the same time!
Each year, our local program needs to raise $34,000 so we can offer the
special needs athletes of our community year round sports training and
year the Law Enforcement Agencies from Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta
County do fundraising activities to raise money for the Law Enforcement
Torch Run, which supports Virginia Special Olympics (our state programs
in Richmond). Officers from all over the state transfer the Special
Olympics Flame of Hope from one county to the next until it reaches the
Special Olympics Summer Games in Richmond on Friday June 11th, where it
is used to light the big cauldron at the Opening Ceremonies. We have the
opportunity to join in and raise money that will stay right here in our
community, by running with the law enforcement officers! So, we need
lots of runners gathering lots of money!
This year will host our first annual Law Enforcement Kick off
celebration! The event will take place on Friday, June 4th, the
week before the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
Athletes can pick up a pledge sheet to take to family, friends,
businesses, clubs, etc. and ask them to become one of your sponsors so
that you can “Run with the Law” to support our local Special Olympics!
Collect $50, and you’ll receive a 2010 Law Enforcement T-shirt plus a
ticket to get into a fun night of celebration, which will include prizes
for the top three collectors, Torch Run medals, door prizes, snacks and
special events yet to be planned.
All activities will take place at the Wilson Memorial Track in
Fishersville and the Augusta County Recreation Gym, beside the track.
This is a very special night, so we hope you plan to join us and help
